Love For Fire Fades Fast
(Be Content With The Bugs)
Fireflies littered the sky on the fourth of July. A lone insect buzzed about the congregation that gathered in the park before the band shell. Independence burned in the nations heart. He darted along the sun tanned legs and bare feet, finally resting upon a blade of grass. The day was fading away. Various rides began to glitter as the sun went down, allowing the carnival to be displayed in full glory.
While cleaning a single leg, the bug tipped his head and was caught by the most attractive purple blink he had ever seen. She was gorgeous! Her radiance seemed to illuminate the heavens. Not only she was brilliant, she was also creating the most alluring hum. It sang through his soul and made his gauzy wings quiver with delight. He wanted to be closer to her.
The tiny soul flew up to the purple glow. Showing off in his insect like way, he buzzed about in splendid circles, arching in the sky and diving down again. There was something different about this one. When he flew in beside her, she was emitting such warmth and her stable blink was nearly blinding. What a curious lady this was!
It was then that a large crack of sound reverberated through his tiny body. The festival had begun. The night sky was speckled over with bits of fire and smoke, sparks painting the heavens with surreal images. He should have been warned by the acrid stench that closed in around his six-legged being. The pulsating lavender beacon was starting to lose her appeal.
There, among the muted starlight shown a spectacular lady! What a goddess! How she glittered beside the celestial spots in the sky. He couldnt resist such a glow. He flew up to her! And, it was then that his life went up in a puff of iridescent Independence Day smoke. All that shines is not love.
